Hyderabad: Transforming Hyderabad into the global capital of life sciences is our ultimate goal, declared Minister for IT and Industries Sridhar Babu.

Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of Amgen India’s new office in Raheja Knowledge City, on Monday, the Minister emphasised that Hyderabad represents the future.

He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the people’s government is committed to making Hyderabad the number one hub in healthcare.

"The city has already become a center of groundbreaking innovations, and the government is determined to elevate Hyderabad’s brand even further. Favourable conditions for industries have attracted numerous global giants to invest and establish their offices here," he added.

The Minister stated that Hyderabad has emerged as a hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and Telangana is actively working to position itself as a skilled human resource powerhouse.

"To achieve this, the State has established a Skill University that collaborates with industries to design cutting-edge courses tailored to current market needs, ensuring better employment opportunities for Telangana’s youth," he disclosed.

Sridhar Babu revealed that it was Telangana’s proactive efforts that convinced Amgen to set up its operations in Hyderabad a year ago. The employees number at this campus will reach to 600 by the end of this year and is expected to provide employment to over 2,000 professionals in the coming years.

The Minister further emphasised that Amgen’s presence will play a pivotal role in fostering biotechnology talent in the state.

He urged the company to collaborate with Telangana’s universities, startups, and research institutions to drive innovation and skill development. The event witnessed the presence of Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Amgen Chairman & CEO Robert A Bradway, US Consul General Jennifer Larson, Amgen India Representative Som Chattopadhyay, and Amgen India Managing Director Naveen Gullapalli, among others.
